  • 1.  Phone Call Activities Automatically Deleting

    Has anyone experienced phone call and task activities automatically deleting? I have one user that I know of that is telling me that his phone call and task activities are disappearing every week. I have spoken to our consultant and they tell me that there is not setting that will automatically delete these activities and that the only way that this could happen is if someone is doing it deliberately. I am going to remove delete privileges to activities, but in the meantime, has anyone experienced this or can you tell me what could be causing this to happen?

    Hi Sharon,

    Have a look at the OOB audit records. If the audit is not enabled for this 2 tables, enable it for a week or two to get the full picture, when the records were created and who/when deleted them

    If you are synchronizing your phone calls and tasks into Exchange/Outlook, then any actions being taken in Outlook could be impacting what is in Dynamics.  Example, if tasks and phone calls are synched into Exchange and the user is removing them in Outlook that can cause them to be deleted out of Dynamics.  If you are using any automatic exchange archiving tools the movement by the archival tool will have the same effect – any synchronized activities that are visible in Outlook that are moved to an online archive appear to Dynamics as having been deleted and therefore the synchronization back to Dynamics will interpret this as a delete and remove from Dynamics.  Fun times.
