Create a view filtered by specific field value changed during specified period

I think this is blatantly obvious and I'm completely missing it, I bet someone will explain this to me and I'll feel foolish....

I simply want to create some views on opportunities that show records that have certain field values that were changed during the last fiscal period. Specifically, show me only opportunities that were changed to 'Won' in the last fiscal period. Seems simple! Yet I can't figure out how....

@Brooke Browne - Have you tried this filter?

Opportunities where the Status Reason = "Won" and the Modified On is in the last fiscal period?

Thanks @Aaron Back, MCSE ! I thought about that, but even if you group those with an AND statement, wouldn't it include records that have a Won status, but were modified in the timeframe for any reason?

I have another view I have to make that shows converted opportunities that are still open, so if I say 'show me opps that are at 20%' and 'were modified in the last quarter', the stage could have been modified prior, and another field was modified during that period.

Or am I incorrect, and grouping them by AND ensures the modified criteria only relates to that field?

@Brooke Browne - If you are looking at the field level, then Auditing is the only thing that tracks field level changes such as Prior Value, Current Value, Modified By, and Modified Date. The Audit Summary is lacking query capabilities. I was able to query the Audit information using Power BI.

There are other tools available to utilize. You can test out the free solution from Microsoft found here: https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-us/product/dynamics-365/microsoft_labs.actionableaudit?tab=Overview

Or, you could look into FastPath solutions: https://www.gofastpath.com/by-erp/microsoft-dynamics/dynamics-crm#tab-3

@Brooke Browne - I failed to add a question: Do you regularly have closed Opportunities that are updated? If opportunities are re-opened and closed as "Won" again. This could lead to inaccuracies in the report approach you looking into.

    Hello @Brooke Browne

I use this criteria and this works fine for us:
This uses the real Closing date of the opportunity.
But as Aaron is saying, if you use "Modified on"  be aware of closed + reopened opportunities, they will have recent dates

We use also the modified on for Open Opportunities and this is working fine also

In this sort of per field audit situation I'd normally add a field (read only or hidden) and workflow the process execution date your important field changes into that new field.

The workflow would let you determine whether it only gets the date set when the value is changed to 'Won' in this scenario. You can then based your views on this date.

Obviously adding the field relies on your role covering customisation. It doesnt help as an end user really.

    Ah, perfect!

For the view where I need to see only the WON opportunities, the same filtering that Jordi used will work perfectly. Luckily we don't have any reason to re-open opportunities.

For another view, where I need to show only opportunities that have moved between 20%-90% in the last quarter, then the workflow with a hidden field Jamie suggested should work! I'm going to give this a go:
    • Workflow - If stage changes to any of these selections, then change this hidden date field to that date
    • View filtering - show only opps that have a date showing from the last fiscal period

Thanks everyone! I'll report back if it works....

Another idea around the Closed Opportunities: Couldn't you use the "Opportunity Close" activity for that which the system creates automatically?
