    This August we will be hosting our 4th annual regional meeting! This is planned by the DC, Reston, and Richmond chapters and we are talking about the whole Power Platform!

    Of course this meeting will be virtual this year so that means you can even wear your sweatpants! (For the record, you can wear sweatpants to our in-person meetings too 😉).

    Getting Started with Approval Flows for Dynamics 365

    Session Description:

    Now it's more important than ever before to get things done remotely and efficiently. Using Power Automate approvals is a great way to keep the team engaged, keep projects and proposals moving forward, and to ensure that proper audits are done.

     

    In this session you'll learn how to create your first approval flow, how to modify it to handle automated tracking, and some of the gotchas that can cost your team lost time and frustration if you don't plan ahead.


    Session Level: Beginner

    Intended Audience: Admin, Business Analyst, Architect, Business Executive

    Learning Objectives:
    • What are approval flows?
    • What are the steps for creating an approval in Power Automate?
    • How can Approvals work in Dynamics 365 and other apps?
    • Create a first approval in under 5 minutes.
    • Learn how to create more complex multi-tier approvals.
    • Understand the planning and pitfalls involved with approvals.

    Bio: My name is James Studer, and I have almost a decade of experience working with Microsoft Dynamics from a functional and technical approach.  I hold a Master’s degree in Information Technology Management with under-graduate in Software Engineering, along with multiple certifications.  I enjoy finding solutions to complex problems from extending CDS to complex integrations with other platforms.

    Thank you to everyone who joined our full-day, virtual chapter meeting for DC / Maryland / Virginia chapters! We had an amazing group and a great set of presentations.

    As you look to the fall there are a few important things to keep in mind:

    1. User Group All-Stars will be awarded at Community Summit and voting is currently open! Your chapter leaders and friends are nominated - Patrick Wright (Richmond Chapter Leader), Aiden Kaskela (DC Chapter Leader), Mike Ochs (Reston Chapter Leader) and Geoff Ables (Speaker). So make sure you take a few minutes to VOTE!
    2. The next DC Chapter meeting is scheduled for the evening of October 28th. Make sure you get registered to save the date and watch the DC Community for updates on the agenda.
