I remember in a meeting a LONG time ago, we all had a funny discovery. It had to do with the dangers of tracking meetings (or appointments?) in CRM.

However, I can't entirely remember what the specific danger was. I'm creating training materials on tracking activities and want to warn users about this. It's my weakness since I don't track activities myself.

I believe it was - If you go back into the appointment from within CRM and update the body content - even after the event took place - it will sync an update to the outlook calendar appointment to everyone that was invited. So if you use that record in CRM to explain that "Bob was a douche", then it will sync behind the scenes, and if Bob opens up the calendar appointment in Outlook, he will see that.

Does anyone remember if I am remembering it correctly? @Mark Suchman?

    Thanks! :D

Yep - I just tested it on myself. In the new UI activities look a bit different, but if you go into the appointment record and make edits, it will push back to the calendar super fast!

That is correct. If the CRM Appointment activity includes external Contacts, when you update the text it will update in Exchange and send the updates to all the invitees!

Thanks a bunch for this. We are just about to launch into this capability and this is a great heads up.

In Unified Interface, the users now get a warning when updating an appointment with external contact:

It is also possible to disable synchronization of appointments entirely via user settings/XrmToolBox. We have done that in our environemtn, as we don't want to send any appointments from Dynamics.
