    Hello Everyone,

Just curious what businesses do to comply with the new California Privacy Laws (CCPA).

Do you rename users and blank out certain fields? Do you have a script / workflow built for this?

    Any other strategy / ideas?

    Thanks

    Rod,

CCPA is very similar to GDPR in Europe so you may find some useful resources if you look for GDPR things - there was lots of webinars and content on how to handle GDPR problems within Dynamics.

As a business, we released a tool called Provenance which was designed to help with GDPR (and now CCPA) erasure - the idea being exactly what you said that some fields are blanked out. The extra step we introduced was one way hashing of other key fields - meaning if that user re-engaged then you could resurrect the old record and restore the history which is helpful.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out - I've seen lots of implementations of all different types.
