Hi I have a few employees that their CRM (we are on D365 web version), starting running super slow within the past month.  They have tried logging on in our office and remote.

An example is they are opening Advance find and it takes 2-3 minutes to even open it to choose what you want to search on the advance find.  We have tested their speed and it is good.

Has anyone else run into this?

    Hi Shonna,

This is obviously not an expected level of performance, even if you have a lot of data or users. When I'm troubleshooting, I try to narrow down the potential causes between user setup, browser, PC performance or things on the users' PC that might be impacting performances. So looking at each of these factors can normally identify a cause.

In addition to what Jill mentioned, a few things to check:

    • Is the performance issue reliability repeatable for these users? So the same users get the same issue each time?
    • Is it the same users each time? Have they tried logging into CRM from a different PC? Sometimes virus scanners have a heavy impact on CRM performance. Might there be any other software on their PC that's scanning what they're doing in a browser?
    • Have them try a different browser. Users should use Chrome or Edge (new version) to access CRM and not IE or the old version of Edge.
    • Are you using Dynamics 365 online version, hosted by Microsoft? If different users are affected (seemingly at random) the issue could be on Microsoft's side. Open a support ticket and have them investigate. They're able to do a lot of things to diagnose and resolve issues on their side, and also tracing on your network to identify potential issues. If you're unable to identify the root cause, this is your next best option.
    Hope this helps!

    Best regards,
    Andrew.

@Shonna Harrison we also have issues with Advanced Find taking ages to load. The same goes, if I open the classic interface to edit settings etc.

I have found out, that if I put the curser in the address bar and hit enter again, the page loads as expected.

Yes, noticed this for a few days. D365 Online., Chrome user, cache cleared and a reboot.

Sysadmins seeing same when entering advanced find.

This morning in the middle of creating a new view using advanced find, it stalled so long i had to abort the session.

I've also noticed this, but luckily I haven't been on a call with a user where it slows down our meeting. Can't say I've been paying attention to if it works better in different browsers, but I can start doing that. It seems to be an issue in one of our sandbox environments more than our production environment, which I guess is better than the other way around.

    Hi Shonna,
We've had periodic bouts with slowness over the years.  If we notice it lasts for several days, we always notify Microsoft to investigate.    They will take a deep a look into the processes that are causing the slowness and can trap this based on the user, the steps the user was performing and the time of day the user is experiencing the issue.  Usually it is not something we were able to fix ourselves.   This last time, they added some indexes and also founds a Bulk Recurring Delete job was hung up.   It had been one we've had in the system for many years but perhaps in the upgrade to v9 and the UI something caused it to no longer finish.     Good luck to you!

This might be the most obvious one but I didn't see any mention it yet. Have the users restart/reboot their system? We have heard of such challenges and while investigating we tend to find the issue local to the machine. We've seen systems with uptime greater than 28 days without a system reboot. Restarting the system is especially necessary when our IT department pushes out weekly system updates which can cause performance issues with web browsers. If the user keeps delaying the restart, it's only going to compound the system issue. Also, since you are on the web, we've noticed web browsers, regardless of which one is the preference, tend to be memory hogs due to opening and closing multiple tabs. Memory consumption was well over 80% which caused slowness. Exiting out of the web browser doesn't typically free up all the cached memory.
