  • 1.  Delegated Admin UI questions

    Posted Nov 12, 2019 06:24 PM
I am a consultant. I support many clients. In the past, most clients would give me a dedicated user account in their domain to login and maintain their system as a System Administrator. With the world shifting to MFA, more clients have been moving to giving me Delegated Admin access to their system, which means I login using my own organization credentials. The problem is that as a delegated admin, there is no (obvious) navigation path to the client's "https://make.powerapps.com" because that only connects to organization's instances. Does anyone else know how this is done?

    Hi Nelson,

We work with a bunch of small businesses and have used the Delegated Admin permissions to access our clients environments for configurations and customizations. This was always a smooth experience in the past but with Microsoft's shift away from the classic/legacy interface for accessing Dynamics settings and towards the Power Platform make and admin interfaces this is no longer the case. Per conversations I have had with Matt Barbour, the Delegated Admin role is to be used for the purpose of administrating the Dynamics environments, and I recently noticed that from the instance picker, selecting "Try the new admin center" now takes you to the client's environments (it previously routed you back to your company's environments). Configuration using make.powerapps.com should be done using a Dynamics licensed user and not with the Delegated Admin.
