"Advanced Settings" menu option is now being re-directed to Power Platform Admin center

  • 1.  "Advanced Settings" menu option is now being re-directed to Power Platform Admin center

Under the  "Settings-->Advanced Settings" menu item, it's now being re-directing me to the Power Platform Admin center instead of 'Settings' under classic view.  Is this a recent Microsoft change?  Is anyone else experiencing this change?  I have to use the 'forceClassic=1' option in the URL to get to settings.

    Hi Jeff,
Yes the same thing is now happening to us as well, so I'm guessing this is a recent change. In the admin center you can also get back to the classic settings view but going to Resources -> All Legacy Settings. Seems like a very roundabout way of getting to your entity settings though.

Thanks for the information.  Some users who want to go to settings don't have access to the Power Platform admin portal though.  I have a meeting with Microsoft this afternoon.  They said this setting can be switched if you are a global admin.  I'll reply back to this thread afterwards with details.

Thanks Jeff, that would be really useful. We have a few users for which this is also the case, so it would be ideal if we could revert this back to the old settings.

I had a meeting with someone in Microsoft support.  Unfortunately I didn't get what I wanted.  They directed me to go to 'Product --> Behaviors' and change setting 'Use Unified Interface Only' to Off and 'Show Legacy app to everyone, not just admins' to On.  This didn't change the function of the 'Advance Settings' menu option.  It just defaulted the environment to the legacy classic look if a particular application wasn't selected.  I reverted those settings back.

Thanks for the update, that is a bit disappointing, I guess it means we'd have to keep some users on the old interface for the time being.

I started having this issue last week as well.  I am able to get to the classic menu by opening PowerApps, then clicking on Entities and on that window, I click on the gear icon and select Advanced Settings and it opens the classic settings menu in Dynamics.  Convoluted, but it works...at least for now.

@Jeff Schuler - I believe this is Microsoft's push to get people to migrate to the Unified Interface, maker site (https://make.powerapps.com), and the Power Platform Admin Center (PPAC https://admin.powerplatform.com). The reason is that the classic interface will be deprecated in October 2020.

    Aaron,

That may be true but Microsoft have yet to convert full functionality to those three sites.

For instance the make.powerapps.com can't achieve:
    • adding a web resource to a form
    • adjusting the form "related" entities
    • managing a sub-grid (some things work)
    • limiting the activities in the activities timeline
All of these have to be done within the classic form.  Do you know of any plans for them to change this?

In addition, our team has a specific person who assigns roles and manages simpler help desk tasks.  This user does not need to access the customizations though.  So for us,  in the past, there has been no need for them to get into the Power Platform Admin center.  Currently the work around has been to have them navigate to the "advanced settings" within the UCI.  Do you or anyone else have another work around for this?

    Thanks in advance!
    Jessica

    Hi Jessica,

I totally understand that, and a workaround to access  the old seetings page withouth switching back to Legacy Interface is by creating a duplicate tab of your application. And then in url replace everything after "main.aspx?" with "settingsonly=true". So the url would be same as:
    https://trial.crm3.dynamics.com/main.aspx?settingsonly=true

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks
    Jay

Yes, same happened to us last week, however weirdly this week it has reverted back to the old 'Classic' version of Settings.  Looks like they are preparing for the impending switch off of Classic (ours is due March and May).
