Is there an easy way to display the Opportunities for an Account, along with all the Opportunities of any child Accounts? For example, Account A has 4 child accounts: A1, A2, A3, and A4. We need an easy way to display all of the Opportunities for parent Account A, along with all the Opportunities for A1, A2, A3, and A4 in the same grid. Is that possible?

    Hi Scott

You can do this if You are willing to add a separate lookup for Top account.

Then You can create a workflow running on create and account change, that will copy Account A from the parent account field of the opportunity account to the Opportunity Top account field. If there is not parent account, You set let the workflow set the top account to the actual opportunity customer.

Using this top account lookup, You can add a subgrid to the account form.

I hope my idea makes sense :o)

    @Scott Grimes

Thanks for asking this question as that made me remember, that I asked a similar question a while back 💡 🤔

This is possible, out-of-the-box, if you add an (Opportunity) Associated View on the related tab in Unified Interface - as that will take the account hierarchy into account.

Here's an example where I have an account hierarchy like this:

When I open the the form for Customer 0 and click on Related and select Opportunities:

It will open the Opportunity Associated View:

With the 'Include related' set to On it will show all opportunities for Customer 0 and below:
If you turn it Off, you will only see the current account (customer 0):

As far as I can see, you still have to make this change using the Classic Solution Explorer. It doesn't seem to be possible using the new form designer via make.powerapps.com.

    1. Open your account form
    2. Click on Navigation in the ribbon and drag 'Opportunities' from the Relationship Explorer to the navigation pane at the left:

      1. NB: It will only work if you use the the out-of-the-box field Potential Customer field on opportunities. E.g. it will not work for custom relationships between account and opportunity:
    3. Click save and publish the form.

This also works for the out of the box relationships for cases and activities (and maybe other entities as well) where you can use the out-of-the-box relationships to show related records. This might be a feature that requires that you have Wave 1 2020 Release enabled in your environment.

A limitation to this is that you can only add Associated Views on the Related tab. E.g. you can not create a tab on the form add a sub-grid and add an associated view there with the 'include related' functionality - which is a pity.

Edit: Another limitation is that it only seems to be possible to use charts, if the 'Include related' flip switch is set to Off.

    Hi @Scott Grimes,

I'll just answer your question here, so it's visible to all.

    Neils,

Thank you so much for your response. It's exactly what we're looking for. I do have one question for you though (and I hope it's not something stupid on my part). We don't see the "Include Related" toggle button. Is there a setting that we've missed or something that you can think of that we might be doing wrong?

    1. Verify that the relationship you have added to the navigation is the out-of-the-box relationship between opportunity and account. This feature only works for this relationship.

You can do that by double-clicking on 'Opportunities' to the left, which will open up the Relationship Properties. It should be named as below:

    2. If you are using the correct relationship, try checking if you have enabled the 2020 Release Wave 1 in your environment. As mentioned in my first post, this might be a new feature in 2020 Release Wave 1 - but I'm not sure.

Thank you so much Niels. I had the wrong Opportunity relationship selected. Once I picked the one that you showed, it works great. Really appreciate your help!
