    Hello All,

We would like to display the related Accounts (where the contact is the primary contact) on the Contact form. It appears that this field OTB is set to Do Not Display in Display Options, screenshot below. I presume that I can't update because it's part of D365 managed solution. I'm wondering if anyone has successfully updated the Display Options for the Primary Contact relationship. I could create a custom field and then update the Display Option of that field being that it's unmanaged, but would prefer not to have to migrate the data from one field to another.

Any and all assistance/guidance that you can provide is greatly appreciated.

I hope everyone is safe and healthy during the current circumstances.

Cris, do you want to show the accounts in the related items of the contact form?  If so, then I think you are stuck because of not being able to edit the relationship.

But you can add the related accounts as a sub-grid to the contact form, perhaps that would work for you?

    Hi Feridun,

Thank you for your response. I suppose that I can go the route of a subgrid, with the difference being that the Primary Contact subgrid will have its own tab at all times instead of only when called upon from the related section (on UCI form). I was hoping that I was missing something but this is certainly a solution as well.

    I appreciate your response.

Why not use a Quick View Form embedded on the Contact Form? You can embed a subgrid on a Quick View Form. Then embed the Quick View Form on the Contact form.

You would need to set up a Quick View Form under the Contact entity. Add the First/Last name fields and then add a subgrid where the Primary Contact field is the link. Be sure to select "related records". (Save and Publish)

Next, add this new Quick View Form to the Account form. (Save and Publish)

Lastly, if you are on Dynamics 365 using the Unified Interface, be sure to add the Quick View Form to the app. (Save and Publish)

When it's all done, you should see something like the below. I have set "Harrison Ford" as the Primary Contact for 2 different accounts. If I open either account record, this quick view form will display the accounts associated with the Primary Contact.

    Hi Cris,

Hope you are also safe and healthy during this crunch situations!

On MS CRM classic version (Dynamics 365 Online web client version v8.x), the best way to achieve this is just adding a sub-grid of Accounts on Contact form and then filter the sub-grid using Relationship. So that Sub-grid will only populate those related accounts under which the specific contact is set as Primary contact.

But as, in UCI version Micro-soft is not providing the  luxury to filter the Sub-grid, the  best and real quick work-out is to access the Accounts from 'Related' tab available at most right side on the contact form. But that will give you the list of all Accounts related to the contact, but not only those accounts under which the contact is set as 'Primary contact'

The other alternative can inserting the Quick view of Accounts both on account and contact entity and setting up a relationship. You can only view at account level through this quick view as it will display all accounts associated with the Primary Contact

On, UCI interface, you can filter the sub-grid by some coding as well, what you can do is On any sub-grid you can dynamically set Fetch XML set under the Advanced filter.

For above mentioned solution you can refer below technical blog.
