column filtering 'contains data' and 'contains no data'

  • 1.  column filtering 'contains data' and 'contains no data'

    Posted Jan 15, 2020 09:47 AM
I am converting from the Legacy UI to the 'new' UI.  When in the new UI in a view and turn on filtering, I noticed the filtering does not have the option of 'contains data' and 'contains no data'.  Is there a parameter for this?  Has anyone else seen this issue?
    Thanks in advance!

I see what you mean!  I just tested and found that if you use the Contains operator and don't put a value, it will return only records where that field contains data - but that might not work well for all field types.  I guess our only work around for now is to use Advanced Find for this type of filter criteria.

I have also noticed the lack of a Does Not Contain filter. I've gotten around it by sorting by the column I need to filter. All records where there is no value for that field are displayed at the top of the grid.

UCI Views are a bit behind Classic.
Also missing is Lookups: Filter by specific XXX
Hopefully 2020 W1 will address these.

They listened!  I applied the 2020 wave 1 update to one of my sandboxes and I was just testing something and needed to filter an Accounts view when I noticed the new behavior.

Instead of the little funnel icon we have in each column, we now have a little drop-down arrow to sort or filter - when you select filter, you have all the usual options we have in the classic interface.

@Donal McCarthy thanks for uploading that image....for some reason, when I try to upload a picture, nothing happens and when I tried to paste a snip, it thinks forever and nothing happens so I gave up!
