Would you point me in the direction of some good tutorials for Dynamics 365 for Outlook?

Also, I've been asked the following:

Can you attached an email to multiple entities in CRM? For example, if we have an email to several people within one company. Can we attached that email to the account, all the individual contacts, and opportunity?
    Thank you!

@Karen Bebow - For clarity, which Outlook add-in are you using? There are 2 currently, but one is being deprecated.

The "old" COM add-in is called "Dynamics 365 for Outlook". This one is being deprecated. This is the one that requires a local installation on the user's computer. Here the User Guide for this one: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/outlook-addin/user-guide/dynamics-365-outlook-user-s-guide

The new app add-in is called "Dynamics 365 App for Outlook". This is the one that is pushed out from Dynamics 365 and has a single button on the Outlook ribbon. If it's this one, here is the User Guide: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/outlook-app/dynamics-365-app-outlook-user-s-guide

    Karen,

Knowing which version (as Aaron asked) will definitely help but in the interim I can give an example of how to approach your use case in the post.

"Can you attached an email to multiple entities in CRM? For example, if we have an email to several people within one company. Can we attached that email to the account, all the individual contacts, and opportunity?"

Disclaimer - D365 is a versatile tool - there are many ways to accomplish the same thing in D365 - the steps below represent one approach and there are definitely others

    Pre Conditions
    • User has appropriate rights to update/append accounts, contacts, (maybe) leads, and opportunities (plus a couple more)
    • User has Dynamics 365 App for Outlook
    • User has Email settings to Track Email Messages from Dynamics 365 Leads, Contacts, and Accounts (this is one option - see disclaimer above)
    • Account, Contacts, and Opportunity exist in D365 AND the Opportunity is created for the correct Account
    Steps
    1. User creates an email in Outlook.
    2. User enters recipients (multiple contacts)
    3. User clicks on D365 ribbon icon.
    4. User selects Track
    5. User clicks Set Regarding
    6. User searches/selects the existing opportunity.
    7. User clicks Send.
    Post Conditions
    1. Email sent to multiple D365 contacts.
    2. Email is visible on the following Activities pane
      1. Accounts - if the Opportunity is related to the Account it will display
      2. Contacts - all contacts that the email was sent to, will display the email
      3. Opportunity - the Set Regarding will make the email display

If the email was not created this way originally, whoever the original sender was or if any of the other recipients were D365 users, they can go back into their Sent emails and perform Steps 3-6 above and the email will appear as in the Post Conditions.

Yes, we can attach an email to multiple entities in CRM? For example, if we have an email to several people within one company. Can we attached that email to the account, all the individual contacts, and opportunity?

You can do this by Using 'Set regarding' function in a proper manner. You can find a proper tutorial on how to use 'Set regarding' in below mentioned blog.

    Nandita,

Thank you so much for all of the information.  I am finding them to be very helpful.  I'm new to the new app so am still learning all of the features, do's, and don'ts.

    Thanks again!
