Hold an old value in Workflow

    Good morning,

I am looking to design a workflow that will send out an automated email to a user when a field updates. I have it build and all the needed fields mapped to the email -- however, I was wondering if there is a way in the workflow to pull the previous value of the field into the email as well.

What I mean is, if Field Value = X and then Field Value = Y, email will say that field used to = X but is now = Y

    Hey Michael,

There is no way to grab and hold the previous value in an oob workflow. Developing a plugin and custom workflow would be one option if you wanted to go a true developer route.

A low-code functional approach that I have used in the past is to create another field that can hold the previous value. A real-time workflow to run before the update of the field can grab the previous value and populate it into the newly created field and you can then map within your current workflow.  I have had to do this when clients wanted to see the previous sales rep on an account and didn't want to use auditing.

    Thanks!
