    Hey guys,

    Just wanted to share how you can now add autonumber fields to Dynamics 365. I know this has required either a third-party solution or an XrmToolBox Plugin in the past but now it's super easy to do...check it out:

    Thanks for sharing Gus!

    The only deficiency I see with the auto-number is that one cannot use other attributes as part of the field. And it also doesn't seem like one can call this "auto" functionality independently (i.e. getNextSequenceNumber()).

    I am going to work on this "gap" so that users can do a lot more with auto-numbers.

    I think it would be nice to be able to be to have an autonumber like {OptionSetText}-{RANDSTRING:4}

    Hi Gus...this is awesome!  I am struggling to find the Quote entity, however.  Is it possible to do this with quotes?

    Hi Karen,

    I think you should be able to do that. One thing no one has noticed it if you already have a field of type text then you can convert it into Autonumber and seed the value of your choice .

    Thanks

    Thank you...also, I found the Quote entity.  I had to select the view to All instead of List.

    Hi Gus,
    Great tip!   Can the prefix be made to pull in the current year or will it only handle a constant?  For example 2020-00001, 2020-0002 etc.
