Do not automatically set regarding new contact - Dynamics 365 App for Outlook

    Scenario:

    1. You receive an email from a contact, that is not yet created in CRM. Now you want to add the email and contact to CRM.

    2. You click the add as contact button, and create the contact directly from the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook.

    3. Now this email is automatically tracked regarding the contact you just created - without the user selecting which record to set the email regarding.

    Question:
Is it possible to change this setting - so that the email is not automatically tracked regarding the contact just created? E.g. in our case, we will not track emails or appointments regarding a contact - but instead opportunities and account.

    Hi Niels,

When you track an email using the app, whether by clicking Track without Regarding or by setting a Regarding record, any unknown sender will automatically be created in CRM as a contact by default, so you don't really need to click on the Add as Contact button. I think the button is there so that you can quickly track the email against the new contact.

In cases where you don't want the contact to be automatically created or if you want to change this behaviour in the personal setting under the Email tab. See below.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the input @Jacky Chen.

The automatic creation of records is already disabled, as we don't want the system to create new contacts automatically. However, this doesn't seem to change anything with regards to automatically tracking the email regarding the newly created contact.

It might not be possible to change this behavior.
