  • 1.  User has Contact records that are read-only

    Hi CRM UG,
    I have a user who is the assigned owner for a number of records but is getting a "Read-Only. You don't have access to edit this record." message for a few contacts.

    Does anyone know how I can get this removed? They have access to other records for which they are the owner. Their role settings are consistent with others in the company with the same role. I can't figure out why it's only impacting these contact records.

    Hi Jeff

    Status = "Open"   Have you added an extra status value of "open" or just renamed "Active".

    Hi Peter, we actually have a couple of different 'status' options. I did try updating the status, however, it ended up that the user was missing some permissions on their profile. The fix ended up working by adding additional user roles to the user profiles.

    Hi Jeff,

    Have you tried the 'Check Access' feature for that record? If you are not aware, there is a 'Check Access' button/ribbon which can help you troubleshoot the access issue. On your screenshot, I see it is available. One recent update to that feature is you can now check access for/as another user. Simply select that feature and switch out the 'User lookup' to the end user who is experiencing this issue. Hopefully the access details will help guide you down the correct path. Here's a screenshot of some of the details it provides, make sure to scroll down for more details.

    Thank you Eugene. This was very helpful. I was able to see that the assigned user didn't have certain permissions and had to adjust their roles. Thank you for your help.
