Summary - Bulk editing opportunities will change any status reason to "In Progress". These changes are not tracked on the audit history, and therefore difficult to correct (restoring a backup copy to a support instance, manually correcting status reasons).
Status - Open ticket with Microsoft Support. They are treating this as a new fix and the feature to correct it will be released on 1/17/2020 to NAM region.

    3. Status reason has changed from "Scheduled" to "In Progress"

    5. Bulk editing indicated a status change from Open to Open. Status reason change is not listed, even though auditing is enabled for the status reason field. The screenshot below demonstrates that a manually changed status reason results in a record on the audit history.

    6. There are no workflows related to this process that would cause.
