Business Rules or Workflow for Assigning Records?

    Hello everyone!

    I am currently working on an Email Template Approval Process that employs status reason transitions to manage the lifecycle of the template. My question is should I use Business Rules or a Workflow to reassign a template based on it's status reason?
    If the email is in Draft/Needs Review or Approved it should be assigned to the Created By user. All other reasons should be assigned to the approving manager.

    The Created By and the Approving Manager are fields on the Email Template record and are automatically filled in by an On Create workflow.

    Any input is greatly appreciated!

    My immediate thought would be to use workflow for this as it's a good fit.

    Did you consider using a Flow approval process, as an alternative?  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/flow/modern-approvals

    I would use either Workflows or Flow to do this. I created a couple of articles about using both with D365 so they might be worth a read to understand the pros/cons of each. If you have any questions about either, let me know. I've built and deployed both.

    I did respond to this message but for some reason it's not here anymore.
    I did end up going with workflows as they were the easiest solution to implement. Once I've learned more about flow I'll implement a similar process :)
