Reference Panel Icons

Does anyone have any tips on designing icons for use with Reference Panels?  So far, I've only tried creating a 32x32 image in Paint and using an online converter to convert it to .svg but my icon comes out so tiny.

For some reason, I'm having trouble pasting, inserting or attaching anything to this post so I'll describe how they look....they look like a little square with a smaller square perfectly centered taking up about 1/4 of the total area and my image is only taking up the smaller, inner square so it's really too small to make out what it is.

Am I doing something wrong or is it impossible to get rid of that border around the image to use up the entire square?

    Thanks,
    Jill

These are the official icons of the d365 ui. Maybe these can help guide you on how to fix your icons.

    Cheers!

@Rex Kenley Tan Thanks so much for the link...however, I am not a developer so I have no idea how to use the images there.  I primarily use only OOTB customization so I only know how to work with existing image files (.jpg, svg, .png, etc) to create a web resource in my solution for use where we have the icon field to associate the web resource for an entity image or reference panel image.

    Hi Jill,

I found a very good blog post by Jeremy Morris for creating custom Icons for Dynamics 365 v9.x. Read it here; https://us.hitachi-solutions.com/knowledge-center/custom-entity-icons-in-dynamics-365-v9-made-easy/.

@Jim Wooldridge thanks for that link - I do recall reading that post a while back.  I tested using a Microsoft vector file as the icon for a reference panel section and even that shows the little circle user icon tiny in the center of a larger square.  I am beginning to think this is just how it is....I found the below image when I search for images of the reference panel which illustrates my point.  Since the image doesn't take up the entire tab square, it is hard to come up with images which will be recognizable to the end user

    Hi Jill,

As you observed the icon is probably not going to fill the entire tab square by design. I'd just check that the padding on your .svg is 0 so that you can maximize the area it does provide you.
