Move the Attachments to Blob storage, storage will be cheaper in blob than in Dynamics 365.

    Hi Giovanni,

The storage shown above is actually blob storage as files are not stored in D365 anymore with the new model. MSFT has broken down storage now into buckets of database, logs, and files. They allow you to purchase additional storage per bucket. If reviewing and cleaning up attachments is not an option to reduce space you should just purchase additional file storage space which is in essence purchasing additional blob storage so to Ramesh's point it will be your most cost effective option. Here is a link to microsoft docs explaining this:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/capacity-storage

    Thanks.

    Hi Giovanni

You may wish to take a step back. Moving files is just kicking the problem down the road and multiplying your information governance problems.

    1. Check your organisations retention policy - make sure it references emails and attachments.
    2. Check your bulk deletion rules - make sure they implement point 1.
    3. Check that records retained as part of point 1 are in the correct place. - EG. when someone is no-longer a customer, can their records be archived elsewhere after X months.

Only after that should you be considering and bulk lift and shift approach.

    Hope this helps

    Jamie

    Hello,

Thanks everyone for your answer, really appreciated.

What is the price for additional database space now? (I found out some useful information one year ago). does anybody know what the new prices for D365 storage?

I got this message too.  I read a long message about adapting their service based on capacity, increased demand, etc.  I am thinking that my capacity was reduced?  I seem to recall that I had 20GB before and was within the space and now my capacity is 10GB.

    Giovanni,

My company, mscrm-addons.com, has a live webinar planned for Thursday that will focus on Dynamics 365 data capacity, associated storage costs and options to reduce Dynamics 365 storage.  Our intuitive and easy to use AttachmentExtractor solution has been used for years to seamlessly move note and email attachments to SharePoint or the Azure Blog, and Thursday's webinar will showcase our new functionality that also moves email content to Azure Blob Storage, significantly reducing the ActivityPointer base table as well.  And of course, this entire process remains transparent to the end user with no noticeable change when working with emails or notes.

If interested in attending, you can register for Thursday's free webinar by Clicking Here  If you can't make the live webinar, let me know and I can forward you a copy of the recording early next week.  Or if interested in learning more, you are also always welcome to reach out to me directly.
