Automatically Open New Opportunity from Qualified Lead

I've searched and searched online for the answer to this.  It used to be, when a lead was qualified, and the new Account, Contact and Opportunity were created, the new Opportunity record automatically opened.  So basically when you hit the qualify button, you were taken directly to the newly created Opportunity record.

Now, when I click qualify, it runs the record creation process, then closes the lead and takes me to my open leads view.

I have a business rule on Opportunity that sets the value on a field, but this only works when the Opportunity is open.  So now, my business rule isn't working since my Opportunity isn't opening automatically :(  It's only working when I go back to my Opportunities list and open the opportunity.

Does anyone have any idea how I can get back to automatically opening the new Opportunity record?

I'm replying to this because I figured out what I did and I can't see how to delete my posting.

I was qualifying the lead from the list view, rather than opening the lead first, then qualifying it.  If I open the lead, then qualify it, it automatically brings me to the newly created opportunity record, which lets my business rules input default values, but if I qualify from the list view, then it does not open the opportunity and won't run my business rules to fill in certain fields until the new opportunity record is opened.

@Jennifer Norton As far as the business rules are concerned, have you set them up to run at the form, or entity level?  Entity level business rules run on the server-side, but form level business rules run client-side.

@Audrey Forrest I actually didn't know you could set them up to run at the entity level, so I set them up on the form.  Would that help them populate without needing to open the record?  Thanks!

You can change the scope of a business rule, even if they were initially set up on the form:

If you select All Forms, the business rule will run fire regardless of the form you are on, but you still must be within a form. Entity runs on the server, similar to a real-time workflow, so if you are executing logic from the list view, they should still apply. Just be aware of business rules that interact with fields that have dependencies, calculations, integrations or other workflows that you would normally address because you would be interacting with the data. Here is an example of such an exception:

Best process is to try it out in the sandbox to ensure that it behaves as expected.

    Hi Audrey:

I made this change on the business rule and it works perfectly!  This is exactly what I needed.  Thank you so much!
