Hello,

My name is Gabriella, I am new to the Sales Enablement community and SE role within my organization. One of my tasks is to complete a Quote Template for our BDMs to help streamline their quote > order > docusign process. I have the XML mapping all figured out but am having a hard time configuring a Repeating Table for multiple product lines.

Does anyone know of any resources or can point me in the right direction? I greatly appreciate your assistance!

Gabriella - I'm uncertain if I understand what you are trying to achieve, but if you are trying to insert a table that will "Scroll" through the related records to list them in your document, you need to ensure you have the related entity added in when you start the template - then you can fill in the first line of your table with the fields from your related entity.  Once you have that first row complete, highlight it and then you will be able to select that repeating option.

Gabriella, attached is a screenshot to build on Jill's answer. Make sure the N:1 relationship is included when you begin the template document, otherwise the related entity will not be available at the end of your primary entity XML fields. Also, your screenshot looks pretty ambitious. What entity will the template associate with?

Thank you both your replies! I have the relationships figured out but where I am running into trouble is actually formatting the information into a table that looks similar to the one in my attachment (see new). ie: how to create headers and format columns within the Repeating Table.

Do I have to use Design Mode?

When you start a template from D365, you have a blank word doc - you can actually paste the content from your exiting document instead of building it from scratch and then adjust it as needed to remove static content and replace it with field content in the Developer Tab.  You don't have to stay in your developer tab - you can use all the formatting techniques you would in a normal word doc.

I did a word template with a repeating table in it a while back.  After pasting the form created by a business user, I removed all but 2 rows from their table - I left the header row and the first row of data.  then, I went to each field in the first data row and replaced the value with an XML field.  Then I set that row to repeating.

Hi Gabriella,

welcome to the community!

I know that you are looking to solve your task with the out of the box functionality, which may be possible, but also troublesome at times! Have you thought of looking at applications yet, that allow easy compilation of dyanmic tables in MS Word, and also easy formatting? dox42 for example allows to easily set up repeating tables in Word templates, and the formating is done with MS Word functionalities you are familiar with, so creating headers and formating columns is easy. They even have a sample template with a repeating table that allows you to connect straight to your CRM system - so you could use it and you are ready to go with your template: https://www.dox42.com/Resources/Sample-Sales-Quote
