    Hello,

Just checking to see if anyone has migrated from CRM 2016 (Online) to Dynamics 365. If so, did you encounter any issues?

Yes, our company did the online update from CRM 2016 Online Update 1 to Dynamics 365 for 3 of our instances. We did not experience any issues. However, I do have 4 more instances to go. So, we will see.

We have upgraded and while mostly happy, we ran into a few snags.

    1. It no longer remembers the form that you had last open. ie - if you have multiple form views available in the Account entity it now opens the default view of the form every time you open a record instead of remembering the last view you were on. We are considering using the business process flows and rules to get around this problem while hoping this is a bug.

    2. We utilize GP Connector to synchronize records between GP and CRM, that tool no longer works. While this was noted if you looked for details on it we were surprised - luckily we use Scribe Online as well, so we have most of our maps rebuilt.

    3. We have seen a couple of duplicate key / a record with these values already exists. I haven't dug into this to see if it is user error or related to the upgrade.

We recently updated our sandbox instance and did not have any issues with customization, forms, or any other unexpected errors.  What was kind of  a big issue for us was the removal of the hamburger menu, and replacement of the 'home' button functionality with a link to the new app picker. We did a lot of end user training around those two buttons, so we anticipate our go-live will be interesting.  I had posted another thread in the admins SIG here:

We are experiencing major issues. When opening a record we are  getting a popup that looks to be going to a dynamics authentication service. I have a premier ticket with Microsoft investigating and submitting a Fiddler trace last night.

I will update once I get more information.

After working with Microsoft Premier support it looks like we discovered the problem. During the update to Dynamics 365 the system enabled Learning Paths and this caused pop-ups to a authentication page that points to a Dynamics URL. Once I "opted out", the issues are resolved. I using system settings to disable learning paths on my instance and have all my users testing now and it looks to resolve the issue. I did ask the support person for more information so we will know when this will be resolved.

Has anyone else experienced this? We noticed this across browsers and instances.

    Thanks

We are also experiencing Workflows and Business Rules that are not working. Some see to have had conditions removed and not present. Very confusing, currently we are going through all of our workflows and business rules to check each one.

I am also noticing that when I make a change to a business rule in the new Visual Designer and click save I am seeing "Processing" and it is not moving pass that. It has been saying "processing" for over 10 minutes now.

Migrating to a new CRM or ERP platform can be really demanding, and if you want to prepare your team well, first you need to be prepared. From choosing a platform to understanding the data map, it's ultimately all about knowing your company and its reality. Migration requires a skilled team of developers, consultants and Project Managers to implement the software without problems. So how efficiently you are migrating, you may or may not face any issues. In majority of cases after implementation and proper testing and fixing, when your CRM is live no issues are detected so that the work flow is not at all affected. So implement proper Test Plan and Test Execution strategy after migration to ensure smooth and confident running. For any end-to-end testing advises, You can message me.
