I'm pretty solid on the foundations and functionality of CRM 2013 but while I'm learning in other areas I'd also like to begin learning the technical side of working within the application. Can anyone let me know where I should really start, i.e. should I start with a specific programming language, specific tips/instructions on working with the technical side, etc? I'm new to this side of working with the application but would like to start learning some of the technical specialties from the ground up in an appropriate chronology.

    Thanks!

If you're looking to start learning CRM development I'd recommend starting off with basic web development (HTML & JavaScript). With a little HTML and JavaScript you can accomplish a lot of different things in CRM to enhance a system. From there you could move on to a language like C# and starting producing plugins and custom workflow assemblies.

A good place to start is the CRM SDK as it has lots of sample code and documentation. Spin up a CRM Online trial organization and see if you can get some of the sample code up and running in a live environment for practice.
