    Hi All,

    I noticed recently that when I make changes to systems dashboards or views then publish my changes it does not take effect instantly like it did in the past.

    Has anyone experience this issue with Dynamics CRM 2016 on-prem version 8.1.0. This past weekend we did patched our servers which is the only recent changes made to our environment. However I did noticed this was happening prior patching the servers. Only now its taking close to an hour before the changes take effect.

    Have you had your DBA do a health check on the SQL box.  Sounds like more of a performance issue than CRM itself.    How is performance when doing searches, etc..    I never ever heard of publishing taking an hour.   I am assuming you have checked on other machines and browser to ensure it it not something funky with your browser and caching.

    Thanks

    @Beth Burrell,

    Thank you for your response. I have not done a heath check on my SQL box yet but will sure do so. However I did use different browsers, machines and ever tried from my CRM server itself and still experienced the same behavior.

    Search is working just fine, so does advanced find. Seems like whenever I do customization changes like adding columns to a view I have to wait if not an hour but close until the changes take effect.

    We do have a lot of workflows, custom SSRS reports that plus data from our data warehouse along with scribe processes, Nintex workflows all running on different schedules. This could be the source for permission issues yet all these been in place for over 2 years and only recently I am experiencing this issue.

    @Beth Burrell thanks again I will perform a heath check. I appreciate your suggestion.

    Regards,

    With an extensive amount of customizations, I would strongly recommend making small solutions for things that change somewhat regularly.  Reducing the scope of what you're publishing should help quite a lot.

    Hello Kirishna,

    Thank you for the description . I wanted to confirm if the process of "publishing the customizations" tends to take an hour when you publish the changes or the publish changes gets completed however the changes still don't get refelected.

    Also Do you happen to see just the same situation if you were to say maybe publish just a basic field or any particular changes to a form?

    I remember having encountered a performance issue when trying to publish al customizations due to the use of a certain network adapter if the VM's were hosted on VMware.

    If we are using VM's hosted on VMware then that could be one of the possible reasons for the issue you are experiencing.

    Thank you

    @Bhartendu Pandey,

    When I say publish changes I am referring to any changes made, from adding a field to a form, modifying views, most recently today updating some HTML code used on a form via web resources. These changes does not take effect immediately.

    When working in un-managed Solutions or even the default Solutions I see the same behavior.

    We are using VMware, all VM's has updated tools and using 10 gig adapters. Can you share what exactly was the fix in your environment regarding VMware network adapters?

    Just a thought, but after publishing have you tried pressing CTRL F5 to force a refresh of the page?

    it may simply be a local cache issue if it is the change that doesn't appear for an hour, rather than the publish TAKING an hour...

    Hi,

    We were having similar experiences in our CRM 2016 8.1 on-premise instance. Our SQL servers are in good health and we are deploying unmanaged solutions with minimal changes in them. Our publishing performance greatly increased after purging several old quarters of data from the Audit Log as well as "stuck" processes in the async processes table. We are still seeing occasional timeouts with some advanced find query loads and external hooks via the SDK but the publishing process itself has not been an issue since, and we think these timeouts may be related to other issues. Have you tried purging the audit and async job tables?

    You might want to edit the topic if you can, when people see 'Publish taking an hour' they think you're staring at the screen for an hour waiting for the solution import process (or pushing the publish all button) to complete. For you, it sounds like that part is pretty fast but when you're going to another page to look for the changes, you don't see them for an hour. So this is more like 'published changes not showing up for an hour.'

    I haven't seen this issue personally, but I know users have it after pushes sometimes. I'd suggest trying CTRL-F5 as mentioned previously, or using a private browsing session. Also, does this happen to every user or just yourself?

    Also, as multiple people pointed out - if it's the "seeing" of published changes that is taking longer than an hour, try a hard refresh (CTRL + F5).

    I have also found that if I am making JavaScript changes on a form on my local machine and I'm attempting to view the published changes on my machine, I can do so faster if I run my CRM instance in a private/incognito browsing window.
