dynamics app outlook

    ​we have used the Dynamics App for outlook for over a year and now. Our dynamics is an online version, with exchange also in the cloud. We have found the app is not as stable as it should be, where the emails sometime successfully track and other times the app does not track with various errors, track pending status. I have worked with Microsoft support on multiple occasions with never a solid fix.

    One- are others finding the app for outlook inconsistent?
    two- are there other products out there to track emails to the contact, opportunity

    Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed

    Hi, Heath...

    Not sure if this would be a practical option for you, but we manually Set Regarding email items (as opposed to automatically tracking) using the Categorized Search lookup and have found this approach to be fairly reliable.

    Hi Heath,

    A 3rd party option I am aware of and have used in the past is LinkPoint360. This is an Outlook plugin that works more like the older CRM Outlook plugin; but significantly better. It has a lot more features than the older plugin. It also happens to be the #1 Outlook app for that other CRM system that shall remain nameless here... :)

    ​We too have used the app and the prior plugin. While the plugin crashed, we didn't get the missed tracked items. We have grown frustrated with this as well and I'll look at the other solution mentioned. Let's touch base and see how we both make out.

    @Heath Purdy - Another 3rd party solution you may want to check out is Riva. They have a great product and different approach on how they handle syncing between CRM and Outlook.

    We are currently utilizing the new App in Outlook and have not had issues syncing lately. They have also increased the speed for finding the tracking record (Account or Contact).

     

    We have been happy with the solution they updated.

    Perhaps there was an update to Outlook recently as we are now getting errors tracking!

     

    Ironically it started the same day I responded to the email.

    We launched D365 with the Outlook App 23 September so my users are looking at Track, set regard in great detail as they are getting used to the system and starting to trust it.  Your post is interesting to me as some users are reporting intermittent "drop outs" of some items not tracking and the track pending which makes me think there is an issue somewhere.   We manually track also and use the categorised search, we've also found it's best to track a sent email, am going to look at the alternative suggestions also.
    Thanks for posting - useful for me to validate what users are reporting.
