SQL Timeout when changing Business unit

We are running Dynamics CRM 2016 on prem and when we are trying to change business units for some users, we get an SQL Time Out.
For the bulk of the users the change went ok.

Has anyone experienced this same problem?

    Best regards,

When you're on-prem you can change SQL Timeout -
That should resolve your issue. Good luck.

Word of caution: Make sure you take a backup of the complete registry before making any changes to it. It tends to have a very bad effect on the whole system if it does not go the right way.

    Hi Carl,

SQL timeout issues are not uncommon, particularly with on-prem.  The trick is finding out the underlying cause of the timeout.  Check the event logs on the CRM and SQL servers, these should show further information about the reasons for the error.  @Feridun Kadir has a quick blog post on tips for SQL timeout issues:

It could also be a platform issue.  Are you up-to-date with your patches for Dynamics 2016?

Feel free to post any error messages you find in the event logs and we'll try to help further.
