Anyone using Learning Path?

    Hello -

    I am wondering if anyone is using Learning Path in CRM to help with user training.  I'f you are using it or attempted to use it and abandoned ship, I'd live to know what you liked about it or didn't like.

    Also wondering what other products anyone has tried (like ClickLearn or UserLane) and your experience with them.

    I had high hopes for the Learning Path feature when our company migrated to Dynamics CRM 365 online.  But it turned out to be really buggy and slowed down the system tremendously.  We quickly turned it off because it became frustrating for both admins and users.  I don't believe the Learning Path is available in the Unified Interface, but I hope Microsoft takes another crack at improving the functionality and rolling it out again.  It's a great concept that can go a long way with helping to onboard new users.

    Niels - I just started experimenting with the Custom Help Panes in our production environment.  And I must say it is awesome.  A huge step improvement from the Learning Path.  Much more simple to implement and without all of the lag issues.  Thanks for the tip!

    @Niels Lønberg are you able to help troubleshoot a security issue I'm having with respect to the custom help panes?  I have multiple users set up with the same security permissions (Read, Append, Append To) for Help Pages.  Some users can see the help page I've designed when they click on the question mark.  Others cannot see it and get an Unauthorized error.  They're all using the same app and site map.  I've gone through the process of deleting their browser history and having them log back in thinking it was a browser issue, but no luck.  I'm stuck as to why the experience is so inconsistent between users.

    @Niels Lønberg thanks for the suggestion - from what I've read, it looks promising, but I'm not able to get it to work to try it!  I am a system admin so I know I have the necessary permissions and I have enabled the feature.  If I attempt to edit the sidebar in the classic interface, I am able to, but in the UI, I get an "unauthorized" message and it says "sorry you don't have access to this document".

    Any Ideas on what I could be missing​

    @Jill Vazquez Are you using one of the first party apps, e.g. Sales Hub?

    I can see from this blog post that Custom Help Panes are not yet supported in the first party apps - but it's not something I have tested myself.

    Note: This feature will not work with any UCI application shipped by Microsoft like Sales Hub, Service Hub, etc… It will only work with custom UCI application.

    That is correct, it's not supported for the OOB apps yet, but they are working on getting that resolved.

    Maybe @Dian Taylor can help here. I don't have that much experience with Custom Help Panes yet as I'm waiting for it to come out of preview before committing too much time to it.

    See below.  The unauthorized message leads me to believe it's a security issue.  But like I said before, all of the users have the same security roles/permissions assigned to them.

    Ok, I think I found out the issue.  It appears the user experience depends on what browser they're using.  When I tested using Google Chrome or Edge Chromium (what I typically use) the Custom Help Pane worked fine.  When tested using Microsoft Edge we got the Unauthorized error message like I pictured.  When I tested in Internet Explorer it redirected me to a totally separate help page.  I can't begin to explain why, but I was able to confirm this with a couple different users.  Hope that helps.
