Tasks unintendedly closing automatically

    Some users (CRM 8.2.2 on prem with SSS switched on for those users) report Tasks that they create being closed automatically 10 - 20 min after creation. I have found an old thread online (from 2016) but that suggests the problem should have been fixed a long time ago (with the suggested temp fix to use 'In progress' as default Status Reason upon Task creation instead of 'Not started').

    Any idea what could be going on?

    Hi Jan, I have seen the thread from 2016 that mentions the same issue, but that would have been resolved in your instance. Is there any workflow or something that may be causing that for some reason?

    Hello Sunil, thanks for taking the time to reply. I don't think workflows are involved - no new task-related ones were added recently anyway. The issue did start when we switched users to SSS to use the Outlook App (replacing the old plugin), so that's why I suspect it is related to SSS.

    Hi @Jan Van Haver!

    Curious if you ever found a resolution to this?

    We just migrated to D365 online with SSS. We are seeing reports of:

    1) Tasks being automatically closed after creation or re-assignment
    2) Calls being re-opened or duplicated

    It seems to be affecting only a few users. I've taken a look at their Sync Filters and the workflows in place, and they seem to be correct.

    Would appreciate any insight into this. Thanks in advance! ​

    Not really, Tamara. But also in out case, only a few users reported this - looking at their sync filters sounds like a good idea, indeed.

    Jan do you have any record creation and update rules configured for tasks within the system?

    No, Doug, we do have Creation rules, but only on emails.

    We do... we have:

    New Task Notification
    - Run when record is created and when it is assigned
    - If Owner is different than Created By, send email to Owner

    Completed Task Notification
    - Run when record is created, when status changes, and when record is assigned
    - If Owner is different than Created By or Modified By and the Status Reason = Cancelled or Completed, send email to Created By and Owning User

    We have multiple teams creating and assigning Tasks back and forth, but this issue of auto-completion once assigned seems to be restricted to one team.
