Marketo and D365 for Marketing

Does anyone have experience with using both Marketo and D365 for Marketing?

We are currently using Marketo with a custom integration (using Dell Boomi) because we are integrating Accounts instead of Contacts to Marketo.

In the future, we will transition to integrating Contacts to Marketo so we plan to switch to using the native integration between D365 and Marketo.  However, I am wondering if we should consider transitioning to D365 for Marketing instead so that we could leave our Marketo accounts integration in place during the transition to minimize the disruption to our marketing team and phase out Marketo after they are up and running on D365 for Marketing and also leverage the Event Management features that are now available with D365 for Marketing.

    Hi Jill,
    Great question.
We are talking with a lot of customers these days about this very topic.
There are certainly pros and cons of what you are considering (many of the cons around the integration issues between Marketo and Dynamics CRM - to both IT and Marketers alike)
And you've hit on something with the events module inside Dynamics Marketing (we offer great demos of this feature and others). It really is extremely robust.
Feel free to reach out if you want to schedule a half hour!

    Hi Jill,

Great question and one that we are seeing more people ask. Keeping in mind that Marketo has been available for years, there will be some things that Marketo has that Dynamics 365 Marketing will not. E.g. Social media marketing is currently a bit stronger in Marketo...mainly due to Microsoft deprecating Social Engagement (however, MS is working on a replacement).

If you are doing primarily email marketing automation and event management then Dynamics 365 Marketing is worth your time taking a look. The main thing to keep in mind is D365 will be quite a bit different than Marketo, so there will be a learning curve. We have been helping customers make the transition and all are pretty happy with the results.
