  • 1.  Bookable Resource Booking - prevent update of End Time

    I've had a request to modify the behaviour of bookable resource bookings. When the Booking Status is changed from Scheduled to Completed, the End Time is updated to the current time:

    Bookable Resource Booking
    Is there any way to prevent this from happening? It appears to be an out of the box feature of Field Service, so I'm guessing it's coded in to the plugins. I was wondering if there's a preference for this anywhere, but I can't locate it.

    Tom,

    Were you able to figure this out? I am trying to find a way to edit the end time when techs/dispatchers forget to close out a WO in a timely fashion. The date/time fields on the Bookable Resource Booking page are locked.

    If you use Google Chrome, there is an extension called "Level Up".  In that extension is a button labeled "God Mode" which will allow you to unlock and edit any locked fields.  That might be worth a shot if your IT department allows you to install extensions in Chrome.

    @Tom Pickles I know that is a work-around and not a true answer to your question.  Have you looked into using a workflow or business rule to clear that field and unlock it when/after the booking status changes?  I don't have access to Field Service so it's just a guess on my part.  Hopefully someone else with access can provide a more insightful answer.

    I'm fairly new to D365 CRM, do you remember what you changed so the system would no longer update the end time automatically?

    I never found a proper solution. In the end, I hid the system fields for end time and put in custom ones which didn't update automatically. Not really ideal but it worked well enough for our purposes.
