    Hi everyone,

My company was recently acquired and we're being asked to move all of our applications to their AD domain and merge tenants. Has anyone had to merge their O365/Dynamics Online environment with a new tenant and can you give any pointers on what to look out for? My biggest concern is that if users get a new SID or Azure Object ID in the new tenant, then record ownership in Dynamics will be impacted. Should I be worried about that?

    Thanks for your input!

You should log a support call with Microsoft as per this article https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/admin/move-instance-tenant

I wouldn't be worried about the record GUIDs because Microsoft will take care of that. I expect that the process Microsoft performs is same as backing up a Dynamics database in on-premises and restoring it to another deployment - where you have to go through a user mapping process.

Thanks, Feridun! I found that link after posting my question and it alleviated some of my concerns, since it seems like Microsoft already has a standard practice set up for moving between tenants. I figured they did, but it was reassuring to see it written down somewhere.

From what I understand, we'll need the existing users set up in the new tenant first and then need to create a map between their account in the current tenant and the new tenant. Then, it's just a matter of making sure the licenses and capacity are available in the new tenant and Microsoft does the rest.

Definitely contact Microsoft though to get clarity and make sure that they can complete the move for the current version of your environment (9.1). It was prior to the "one version of the application" coming to life but when I had last had to perform a tenant to tenant migration Microsoft told me that the capability was only available for version 8.2 and was not ready for any of the v9 environments. I would double check that they can now do this for v9.
