Need help with using these views.  I need to customize the columns and layout of the view but still have the functionality of the OOTB views.  You can't used "Editable Grids" either with these entities.  I find it hard to believe we are the only company that is using the quotes/orders and need to change the view but not loose the functionality.

If any of you have suggestions or can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

    Hi Scott-

We are using the Quote and Order entities, but I gave up on the out of the box and went with a third-party add-on. It is called Editable Grid from MicroPlanit.

A free customizable Editable Grid for Dynamics CRM 2015/2016/365 !

A free customizable Editable Grid for Dynamics CRM 2015/2016/365 !
UPDATE 03/15/2017: We have released a new version! The latest version includes performance enhancements and new features! We now allow the grid to be extended by custom JavaScript, Import data to the grid by csv (text, boolean, date, decimal, double, integer, memo, and money FieldTypes), Keep header static on scroll, CASCADE GRID LOOKUPS, Custom FetchXML...

We've used it to replace the grids from 365 with our own custom grids. It fills in all of the data into the OOTB fields and respects the business logic in 365.

It can be customized with JavaScript, custom buttons, etc. Pretty nifty and works well.

    Hope this helps you.

    Thanks.
    Joe

We are also using a third party free tool - D CRM Editable Grid - A zero code editable grid for CRM 2013, 2015, 2016, and 365.

Right now we are testing in a lower environment but I have found it very easy to use.

@Christie Cripe - Can you please send me a link to be able to download this solution? I checked on GitHub, but I didn't see a solution file for download.

Sorry about that.  I finally tracked down another link - thomasfnorthrup/dcrmeg

dcrmeg - D CRM Editable Grid is a zero code (Html5 JavaScript) add on for Dynamics CRM 2013, 2015, and 2016 for easily implementing custom editable grids

Let me know what you think.  We have been testing this one and found a few things that won't work for our needs so I am actually looking to test out another solution.

@Aaron Back - I wanted to be sure to update you.  We found many bug in this version of the editable grid that i posted from Mehrdad Hatteffi.  I was able to track him down and see if there was another version and he said there was, for $1000.00.  We emailed back and forth a few times until I asked if we could have a list of things that the new version does...to which he replied, "I have made a mistake.  I withdraw my offer regarding the new version of the subgrid."  Not really sure what happened here but I wanted to make sure I updated this message thread to proceed with caution of you download this solution.

I am now in the same boat. I went the customized route but then it was giving me errors on my word doc template so I need to go back to the drawing board and I dont know how to proceed. If I use the OOB form I still need to customize the grid part (remove "unit" and quantity" etc and add in days and price instead. Is this doable?

    Hi Scott-
In the past, I have just created a new form and then make it an option as to which one the user selects.  Both the old, (default) and the new will carry over and perform as they always had.  You can rearrange the fields/columns and create new if needed by doing that.  I don't recommend trying to edit the default though unless you really want it changed forever.  "Save As".
Properties of the form can also allow you to set which one becomes the main default and what other forms are available.  If you have access to edit entities, that is the way I would recommend.
