Dashboard record search in Unified Interface?

    I can't make it work!

I have a dashboard with a contact grid, including a search box. In the classic interface I can enter a search term and the results are displayed (view changes from "My View" to "Search Results".

with the same dashboard in the new UI the search box doesn't return any results and the view doesn't change.

I've added all the contact views to to app site map and they are all enabled on on the dashboard grid so am I doing something wrong or is it a bug?

    Thanks, Matt.

    Matt -

I just tested with a few different entities in dashboards (including contacts) and I didn't see this behavior...it worked just fine for me.  Have you tried it in different browsers?  Have you tried creating a dashboard in the UI?

    Hi,
Thanks for the response. Further investigation shows the search behaviour on a dashboard grid is different to the search behaviour on the contact entity itself.

It looks like MS changed the search method in the new UI to align with the Web interface back in November

Unified Interface Lookup now leverages Quick Find View

but that the behaviour I'm seeing on the dashboard doesn't fit with that updated way of searching.

Having tested more I can only search using "full name" not postal code, email address or any other fields that are find enabled via the quick find view on the dashboard.

I'll raise a call with Microsoft - feels like a bug to me.

    Rgs, Matt.

What we've found with the dashboards in the new UUI is that the search field searches only the records in the view displayed. This is different than how the web UI dashboard works. Once we figured out what's happening, my users actually like this. It gives you a way to search within the view's results without having to use the filter.

Thanks for that - are you able to search for data in any columns other than the primary field?

As far as I know, you it's the standard quick search fields that are searched. I haven't tested that theory, though. In our case, it was a user who brought the difference to my attention. She used to use the search on the dashboards, and it was no longer working for her. Then we realized it appeared to only search in the records listed. We have not done extensive testing on this. That's our belief in how it's functioning.

Try it out and let us know what you find!
