We've had Relevance Search enabled and configured for well over a year. Our users have been using it instead of Categorized Search with no issues. However, I came back from vacation today to a complaint from a user about Relevance Search. Suddenly when we search for something using Relevance Search, we get the message:
The search service is currently unavailable. Try again later or use Categorized Search.
This seems to have started last week, although I don't have an exact date of when it first started. This is happening in both our production environments and the sandbox, which was updated a few weeks ago, when Relevance Search was working.
Searching online about this issue suggests that disabling and re-enabling Relevance Search may fix the problem, but it did not fix it for us. I disabled Relevance Search for about 10 minutes and then re-enabled it and had the same issue. I also ticked "Use new search experience" on and get a different error message with a Retry button, but an error all the same. No search results.
I read someone disabled it for 24 hours and it worked when re-enabled after that extended period.
Any ideas why this could be or what I could try?
