    I read somewhere that MSFT will be offering some content that will offer some of the same features as InsideView.  Does anyone know anything about this? I have searched but was not able to find much info.  thanks! Laura

    Laura,

    It is covered in the Spring Release Notes  You can download the release notes in .pdf format at this address:  https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=2058936

     I also copied Niels's earlier post on this new LinkedIn functionality below for your review:

    "The April '19 Release Notes are now available on docs.microsoft.com.

    I'm really interested to see how the new LinkedIn functionality for Dynamics 365 for Sales will work. Particular because it says that it works without any configuration or additional subscription.

    "Every Dynamics 365 for Sales user can view basic customer profiles from LinkedIn right out of the box without any configuration or additional subscription."

    Yeah, it's just not much.  I was hoping it might be a little more robust.  thanks @Patrick O'Donnell!

    Hi Laura,

    We're hearing this from a lot of people right now. Unless I've missed something, I think this is because some confusing messages are out there in the marketplace right now. Here's what I believe to be true:

    • Microsoft is offering a new Dynamics 365 license type called Microsoft Relationship Sales. This includes the LinkedIn Sales Navigator functionality "at no additional cost" (although the license itself costs more than the standard Dynamics 365 for Sales license does). Licensing info here: Sales Force Automation | Microsoft Dynamics 365

    • LinkedIn Sales Navigator (included above) is an additional monthly fee and includes integration with Dynamics. Our tests with clients suggest that this adds complexity to the user experience that, in most cases, does not offset the improved data and functionality. We recommend it only for LinkedIn power users who are also Dynamics 365/CRM power users (which tends to be a pretty small group).

    • I believe there is some other very basic LinkedIn visibility on D365 for Sales v 9.1 (April).

    • None of the above scenarios enable updating Account/Contact data from LinkedIn (yet). They do allow tracking InMails from LinkedIn into D365, but this is one-way only (you cannot InMails in D365 and push them into LI).

    • Some of the confusion was probably caused because some of the LinkedIn announcements were made about the same time that Microsoft dropping InsideView as a free service was made - so there was an assumption that LinkedIn would replace InsideView. I just did a session on this at Focus - there are some unique differences between InsideView and LinkedIn (I won't go into them here - but happy to chat about it if helpful).

    Hope that helps a bit. Microsoft is rolling so much out so fast that it can be difficult to keep track.

    Good morning @Geoff Ables!
    I would agree with that you that LinkedIn Sales Navigator (and the integration with Dynamics CRM) is only for those power users.  The majority of our staff does not fall into that category.

    We have upgraded our Sandbox but I am not even sure where to look for that LinkedIn integration with the April release, have you found that yet?

    I think some of the Microsoft staff does not even understand the difference between what they are offering and what InsideView offered.  The Sales Navigator is very sales focused and stresses interaction between individuals (InMail) and the InsideView information is content heavy and is great for research.

    It was presented to us that the new functionality with Sales Navigator (which we would have to purchase) was to replace InsideView which is not the case at all.

    thank you for your explanation!

    Laura

    @Laura Mortick,

    Microsoft, unfortunately, changed their mind on the LinkedIn integration - which is so disappointing. It is mentioned in the change history of the release notes:

    You have to buy a Microsoft Relationship Sales subscription or sign your team up for LinkedIn Sales Navigator Team or LinkedIn Sales Navigator Enterprise to enable LinkedIn Sales Navigator controls in Dynamics 365. You can find more information here.

    The changed the wording on the release notes site from:

    "Every Dynamics 365 for Sales user can view basic customer profiles from LinkedIn right out of the box without any configuration or additional subscription."

    to

    "Installing and configuring the integration with LinkedIn Sales Navigator will now be easier. The two existing packages will be merged into one, and the integration will be made available out of the box. Just a simple toggle in the administration settings is all that's needed to start leveraging Sales Navigator together with Dynamics 365 for Sales"

    @Niels Lønberg thank you for the information - thought I was crazy! :)
    It lists here that Microsoft Teams integration was removed - do you know anything about that? It has been in preview for a while (I can pin a record to a MSFT Team). I found some information here but I am not sure if that is the most current.  I think this is telling me that we could insert a view in a team, rather than just a single record.

    Additionally, it says you can "Seamless document collaboration between Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Teams". As far as I can tell, you can access CRM from a team, but you cant access teams from CRM - is that correct?

    thanks so much for your reply on the LinkedIn information.

    @Laura Mortick,

    We don't use Teams yet, so I don't know much about that. However, I can see the following via the Change History:

    "Changed from General Availability to Public Preview"

    So it doesn't seem to be removed - but it will be in preview.
