Custom Activity -- can other activities be linked to it?

    Hi everyone-

I've created a custom entity called "Content" and made it an activity entity. My goal is to be able to link other tasks to each record of the Content entity (because tasks need to be completed before a Content activity can be completed).

Created a one-to-many relationship between Content and Tasks, but I don't think this is going to work as I am expecting.

When I create a new Content record and then create a new Task, the Regarding field does not fill in with the Content record. It is just blank.

It would be nice to be able to link all the activity types (specifically task, phone call and appointment) to my custom Content entity, but I don't think that is possible since I can't create a relationship to itself?

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you!
    Joe

    Hi Joseph,
I have had this request from users in the past and what I found is that you cannot have an activity be regarding another activity.  If your new custom entity had not been created as an activity, you would be able to have the content record be listed as the regarding field of the task record.  If you find a way to set regarding activities to other activities, I would love to hear!
    Thanks,

    Hi Diane-

So, your response shook out the muck loose in my brain that was preventing me from thinking this through.

I got rid of the entity and created it again. Instead of making it an activity entity, I left it as a standard entity and checked the box under Collaboration to enable for activities! This is perfect.

Now I can have ALL of the activity types linked to a Content record (which is better than I was expecting with just Tasks)!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU for the assist with this! I really appreciate it!
