I am assuming that you are generating multiple opportunities for one client but want to be able to keep a track of the total spend YTD on the account against forecast spend? If that is the case a rollup field on the account entity summing closed opportunities in a defined fiscal period should give you a "spend this year" but not sure how this ties in with your "product line amounts"?
Do you also want to know how much of a particular product or line item a specific client has purchased in a given time frame?
