Related Entity Field on Email Template

Is there a way to pull in a field from a related entity into an email template?  For example, I have an email template for the Quote entity.  In the body of the email I want to be able to pull in just the first name of the customer contact on the quote record.  The quote record contains the contact's full name, so I was trying to figure out a way to pull in just the first name of the contact record related to the quote record.  Is this possible without any kind of custom code?

    Hi Kyle,
that is depending on the email system and the CRM version. We have ClickDimensions and that makes it quite hard. Using CRM internal emails on CRM onprem it could be something like described in the URL https://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/passiondynamics/posts/insert-dynamic-values-from-custom-entities-in-an-email-template-microsoft-dynamics-crm.
I have not tried it in D365 online or with Marketing for Dynamics.

    Hi Kyle,
I agree with Axel, it depends on what CRM & email platform you are using. For instance, with Touchdown you can create email templates with drag & drop builder and personalise it pulling any field you are using in your CRM database. Personalisation is not hard in this case and you don't need any custom code. Don't hesitate to have a look.

Thanks for the feedback!  We are using Dynamics 365 Online version 9.1.0000.22251 which includes the 2020 release wave 1 installments.  Our email platform is Outlook.  Not sure if that provides any additional insight.

No problem! According to your answer Touchdown can indeed help you without using a code!
You can try the free version and test it yourself here https://www.touchdown.co/,
If you're interested, we could discuss your needs further and find a perfect match for you.
Let me know how that sounds!

I think the easiest way would be to add a calculated field on the Quote entity that pulls in the first name from the related contact.  Then you can easily pull the calculated field into the email template.  I've used this trick many times for many reasons.

    Hi Kyle,
when I understand you correct you use the standard email templates within CRM. Now I can only tell you how you do it in CRM onprem but it still should be similar in Online.
Go to Settings / Templates / Email Templates and select the template you want to change.
Click into the body where you want to place the first name. Click on Insert/Update in the menu. In the pop up click on "Add" and now you should be able to select different entities (the entity selected for the template and the N:1 related entities like contact, user and account maybe others in your case).
Click on contact and select the FirstName. Now you should have a yellow marked field in your template. It has to stay yellow otherwise the link to the database is removed.
I hope this is what you are looking for.
