Hi!  Has anyone taken any of the certificate classes that Microsoft offers?  Pros / Cons?  Any other certificates I should look at?

    Hey Shonna,

I haven't taken any of the classes as I usually find content online for free. Depending on the exam you want to take, here are some resources I highly recommend:

    By @Neil Parkhurst

    By @Mark Smith
    Info from @Julian Sharp

These are geared more towards Dynamics, so I don't know if they will be as helpful to you. I also know that @Gus Gonzalez is running some training classes around these exams at Summit in Orlando this year:

Thank you for the shoutout @Emma D'Arcy!

Hi @Shonna Harrison, as Emma mentioned I will be delivering a class the Sunday before eXtreme and UG Summit in Orlando, however, this class is not "a regular class", it is designed for people who could perhaps already take the exam but need a little "extra push" to go and pass it.

So if someone came to the class as a beginer, wanting to learn everything needed to pass the test from scratch, it would take way longer than a day.

The class I'm delivering is for people who have most of the knowledge and experience and just want to "make it official" and get certified.

I will be focusing on the "Core" exam, but there are a couple of other classes also running that day for the Sales and Customer Service exams as well, in case you are interested.

    Hey Shonna,

I haven't taken any classes, however, I have taken the MB-200 and found it to be a very practical test for any Dynamics 365 developer. There is plenty of study material online to prepare for the test.

The test focuses on the following sections:
    1. Perform discovery, planning, and analysis
    2. Manage user experience design
    3. Implement security
    4. Implement integration
    5. Perform solutions, deployment, and testing
    6. Manage entities and data

Hi Shonna, there are a range of certification options available depending upon your career goals. At this time, most of the Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement exams and certifications are aimed at Microsoft partner consultants. If you visit you'll find that there are fundamental and functional consultant role-based exams available for Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement, but nothing yet for Administrators.

I would recommend the Dynamics 365 Fundamentals exam for everyone ( Then taking one of the functional consultant paths available: marketing, sales, customer service or field service depending on the apps your organisation has deployed.

D365UG offers really solid system administrator training courses, but there is no Microsoft exam available at the end.

Finally, if you're looking for something a little different, I love helping Microsoft customers and partners use the Scrum framework to successfully implement Microsoft Business Applications. My Scrum for Microsoft Business Apps course will prepare you for Professional Scrum Master certification.

While the resources discussed are great, I'd say the best set of online learning links is Mark Smiths:

I followed his link to the OpenEdx training course for the MB-200 Core exam and followed that course.  I'm not a beginner, I've done most generations of the exams from 1.2 onwards but in my opinion that OpenEdx course is as good as any online training you'll get anywhere - @Mark Smith and his co hosts do a great job of explaining the components of the power platform and covering the exam sylabus.

    Hey Shonna,

I haven't taken any of the classes as others mentioned you can find content online for free and also your development experience helps. I have taken the MB2-716 - Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customization and Configuration Certification recently and found more of practical knowledge questions and online reading would be sufficient.
Have a look at the skills measurement while registering for the exam that helps you to find all the topics.
