Finding the owner of User Dashboards

  • 1.  Finding the owner of User Dashboards

    I have a few users who are looking to clean up the list of Dashboards that they see and I need to determine who owns some of the User dashboards that have been shared with them so I can have that person unshare them.

    Does anyone know of a way to see the owner of a shared user dashboard?

    Unfortunately there is no easy way of doing that. I work now on plugin for XrmToolobx that will do migration of Personal Views/Charts/Dashboards between environments. Theoretically you can use it for your analysis.
    Alternatively if you familiar with XrmToolbox and FetchXml you can use FetchXml builder plugin to get your question answered.

    Let's assume that you have 3 users to check - Andrew, Paul and Bill. Here are steps to do to understand ownership of Personal Dashboards:
    1. Open XrmToolbox and connect to your instance using credentials of Andrew.
    2. Open FethXmlBuilder plugin and use following FetchXml:
    <entity name="userform" >
    <attribute name="name" />
    <attribute name="ownerid" />

    3. Run query - in results grid you will see all the personal dashboards available for user and owner of each of dashboards.
    4. If you haven't found some dashboard that is available for Paul. Repeat all the steps from 1 using credentials of Paul. Similar for Bill.
