Field Selected when Contact Record Opens

  • 1.  Field Selected when Contact Record Opens

    Posted 20 days ago
    Hello,

    I've recently noticed that when opening a contact record in the unified interface, it opens with the 'First Name' field selected and ready for editing. I was wondering if this is a setting that can be updated, as I don't want team members to open a contact record and accidentally delete or edit the first name. I would like the record to open without any fields selected.

    Thanks!

    Cody,

    I don't think there is a setting to control this. It appears that the default behavior is to set the focus to the first field on the form. You might be able to implement JavaScript behind the form to set the focus to some control on the form where you wouldn't have the potential problem of accidental data updates. Maybe a read-only field, or a tab or section. The following method is available for all control types: formContext.getControl(arg).setFocus();

    I also had this issue.  I solved it by adding a field  above the first name (add a field that you don't actually need to use - I chose birth date but you can choose anything) and then hid the field so it can't be seen or edited.  Now when I open a contact record, there is no field in focus so nothing is accidentally edited (I assume the focus is on the hidden field).
