    Hi all,

my Sales team is currently testing the LinkedIn Sales Navigator and wants to try out the CRM integration that comes with that.

In the meantime my Marketing team has discovered this LinkedIn Integration for Lead forms: https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-us/product/dynamics-365/mscrm.dd228afa-64e7-4c9f-92ad-77e7f1334547-preview?flightCodes=leadgenhidekey

I understand that the Dynamics 365 Connector for LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms is not as powerful as the Sales Navigator, however should my sales team be moving forward with the Sales Navigator I am wondering whether I still need the Connector for Marketing or whether they'd be better off also using Sales Navigator.

Is anyone using any of these and has some insights in how both solutions work? In which scenarios do I want to recommend which tool? Do they co-exist? Is functionality of the Connector part of Sales Navigator?

    Thanks for your insights!

    Hi Sissy,
First, I'll try to draw the distinction between the tools.  The connector that you link to for the Lead Gen is, I believe, for leads captured if you are doing advertising on LinkedIn and getting leads this way.  This is totally separate from anything Sales Navigator does.  If you are not paying LinkedIn to run ads on their platform, this connector won't do anything for you.  If you are, then use this to bring those leads back into Dynamics.

Sales Navigator, on the other hand, is targeted at your sales staff to allow them to get better information and leads themselves.  The integration to Dynamics allows you to push Dynamics leads to Sales Navigator, and will display any Sales Navigator activities you create (like InMails) back to Dynamics so you have visibility to that activity history.  I actually did a short video about the Sales Navigator integration when it was first released here: https://www.powerobjects.com/videos/linkedin-sales-navigator/.  The key thing to note is that the integration with Dynamics does NOT allow you to take contact data from LinkedIn and push it down to Dynamics - you can push your Dynamics information into Sales Navigator, and you can get your activities out, but LinkedIn will not allow you to take member data and bring it down.  This is because, essentially, LinkedIn does not own that data (i.e. my profile data belongs to me).

So, two separate tools for two separate uses.  You can choose to use one or both as there is not any overlap between them.  Hope that helps!

Thanks Merlin! That's exactly what I needed to know. We activated the Sales Navigator Trial today, so I'm excited to try it out.
