GP Integration

    Greetings Forum,

My organization is using Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 (18.00.0704 (R2)), with integrations to Microsoft Dynamics D365 for Customer Engagement (Version 1710 (9.1.0.6032) online).

Our business users would like to be able to view and/or print GP invoices directly from the respective CRM Account. An eventual goal is to make a PDF of the invoice available to a portal where our Customers can view their own invoices at will.

Suggestions on tools, add-ins or other approaches are much appreciated.

@Leslie Guffey - You can utilize Word Templates for the invoices. This will allow you to get the layout you want and to brand it with your logo.

I'm sure others will have ideas with what they use or have experience with.

The objective is to create the actual GP invoice as opposed to a separate "similar" document. The concern with using a CRM template would be two versions of the truth.

We are looking for a solution where CRM leverages the print invoice feature from GP if that exists.

    Hi Leslie,

I must admit I'm not familiar with GP, but if the GP invoice data can be brought into CE as a Virtual Entity (call it GP Invoice) then you could prevent the issue with multiple source of truth. With the data in CRM, you can use the Document/Word Template feature to generate the Invoice.

At this point you will have to manually convert the document to a PDF so that it can be consumed by the client. Given your roadmap to enable client to access these invoices themself (plus generating a PDF), may I suggest looking at creating a process/custom workflow that outputs a PDF. Otherwise, Flow can be useful for PDF generation as well.

    Hope that helps.
