Log Space Missing on dynamics 365 CE Online

    Hello everybody,

We have a Dynamics 365 CE online multi instances (15 -20) with 2 thousand of users and only 2GB of data, we need more log space, so my 3 questions.
    Why only 2GB?
what are the best practices to manage this issue?
what the prices and cost plan to have more space?

In the new storage model, see my article at Changes to storage costs for the Common Data Service , the included log space allowance is 2GB.

    For your questions:
    1. I don't have an answer, that is a Microsoft decision.
    2. Only audit the entities and fields that really need to be audited. To remind everyone, the default is that auditing is off for all entities but on for all fields so when you switch on auditing for an entity, by default changes to any field will be audited. Consider not auditing all fields. Also, review the logs regularly and consider removing the older ones. Of course, it all depends on why you are auditing in the first place.
    3. My article above has the costs, but to repeat here, for log space, it is USD $10 per GB per month.

I'm presuming you mean audit logs.

It's only 2GB because that is what Microsoft have decided. Log space is not increased by user count unlike DB and File (if on the new Capacity calculation).

    Solution.

    1. Buy more Log space
    2. Delete old logs (can see on the Setting tab under Auditing)
    3. Check if everything you are logging is required to be audit logged

    Giovanni,
I agree it is frustrating and does not make sense that it would not increase with the number of users. Obviously with  more users you will have more audit logs...

Also, deleting is not very flexible.  As I see it, you can only delete ALL logs from an entire quarter.  So, if you realize later that you were auditing too many fields (only needed 2-3 and you were auditing 100), then they are all mixed together with user access logs, etc.  I think you can submit a ticket with MSFT and they can selectively delete them, but we have not done this yet (although we plan to).
