We are excited to announce that Microsoft's new user group experience is now in public preview and ready for you to register your group. Over the years, we have supported and managed user groups and now we believe that it is time for Microsoft to directly support these communities. We strongly believe in this new vision that is Microsoft-empowered, community owned in response to what our users have always wanted. Dynamic Communities will continue to serve the community through content programming and events, where Microsoft remains committed to supporting the role we play in the community.
This new user group experience offers online tools to help you find, join, start, and run local user groups for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform. Microsoft is supporting the User Groups with an administrative team and connection to local Microsoft employees around the world.
The goal is to enable a global network of local user groups that are Microsoft supported and community led. User groups help members connect, learn, and engage one another on topics related to Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and other Microsoft Technologies. It is free and everyone is welcome.
The new user group experience is for Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform users who want to elevate their skills and achieve more at work. The Microsoft Power Platform and Dynamics 365 communities are personalized community experiences that connect you directly with Microsoft, your industry peers, and high-value content. The communities bridge in-product and web in a diverse, supportive environment.
Public Preview is now live and we encourage you all to create or join a local user group:
Dynamics 365 user groups
Power Platform user groups
Power BI user groups
Power Apps user groups
Power Automate user groups
Power Virtual Agents user groups

Microsoft has been working behind the scenes for a while now to build user group functionality on the Dynamics 365 Communities and the Power Platform Communities platforms. I've been lucky enough to be one of several Microsoft MVPs that are a part of the Microsoft Business Apps User GroupAdvistory Board to provide Microsoft with feedback and input based on 10 years of running user groups.
John Siefert, CEO of Dynamic Communities, sent an announcement to DCI's user group leaders in early March and he hosted a webinar with Microsoft on 11 March to discuss the changes. DCI will continue to invest in their Decision Acceleration Cloud product and the Community Summit North America event. It's up to each user group whether they want to continue running on DCI's platform or switch to the new Microsoft platform (that are still in public preview, so they're not finished development yet).User group members will not be migrated. If your group wants to run on either (or both) the Dynamics 365 Community or the Power Platform Community platform, you'll need to sign up there to start a user group, and members will need to sign up to those communities and join your group. If you have any specific questions, I'll be happy to try and answer them here or direct you to the team at Microsoft for assistance.
