Using validation feature of the App Designer

    I building a model-driven app and is using the App Designer to select entities, forms, views, charts etc.

    Some of the views in my app are only used in sub-grids and on dashboards, so I do not want these to appear in the list of system views when clicking on a specific entity in the menu:

    When I run the validation feature in the App Designer, it tells me I need to add these views used in sub-grids and dashboard, as there are dependencies. However, if I do that all these views will now appear as system views - which is what I'm trying to avoid.

    I have tried using Solution Explorer and deactivating these views. That works - until you start making changes to forms or dashboards where the views are used. Then suddenly the users are not able to see the views any more and get an error message.

    Has anyone found a way to work with this? I would really like to use the validation feature but I don't want to include these views as system views. Right now I'm adding a note in the description field not to include them but hoping there's a better way to work with this.

    @Niels Lønberg - Since the Dashboards have a dependency on the System View, they will need to be set as Active views. However, you can control which System Views are visible to the users underneath the Entity.

    If, for example, you have "Account" listed as an Entity within the App Designer, select the "Views" tile, and you will see that the "All" option is selected.

    Uncheck the "All" option and then select the specific View you want to be visible. Then "Save" and "Validate" the app again. See if this helps with what you need.

    @Aaron Back, MCSE,

    That's what I'm already doing.

    If you use a view anywhere in an app, the validate function wants you to include that view - but that makes it appear in the list of system views - which I'm trying to avoid.
