Question regarding copying Prod instance to make a new test instance

    Hello,

    I have a question regarding copying instances. We have created a new test instance by copying the Prod (along with the data).

    What all configuration changes we would need to verify to make sure there are no connections to the original Prod instance? Just trying to make sure we dont accidently interfere with the prod data.

    Any pointers would be helpful.

    One main thing to verify is the email router/mailbox setup - its under the settings.

    Outside of that, if you have any integrations youll want to check that.  This could be in workflows, plugins, javascript.  If best practice is/was followed when those items were built you should be fine, but you never know when someone will hardcode a site URL.

    Hi Sunil,

    We recently completed our instance separation project and I'm happy to share my experience with you. If your new test instance will be running parallelly with the original production instance, you will need to verify all the integration points to make sure that they will not interfere with each other. 

    In our case, we have the following integration points
    1. SharePoint integration
    2. Portal integration
    3. B2C integration
    3. Exchange/outlook integration
    4. financial system integration
    We rebuilt all the integration points (except for SharePoint integration, which is only used by new instance) for the new production instance to separate the data flow from the original production instance.
