Hi all, a quick bit of context. We manage over 150 distinct instances of CRM 8.2 on premise, and our main challenge with all those different users and companies is, no surprise, getting users to read new and important information from us. I'm looking for a way to push out a message to all the CRM orgs and have it pulled from a central location such as an RSS feed. The idea is that it would display the message when the user logs in. The old CRM 2011 had an "Announcements" functionality that is pretty close to what I need, but Announcements only pulled from data in that local instance.

I've looked around and found lots of JS tools for displaying custom pop-ups and modal windows, but they are all for system interaction and validation. What I need is something to distribute information.

We could always build something, but I figured it might be better to get something off the shelf.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Mike,

If I had this requirement, I would make use of the existing announcement functionality (we've made a default dashboard with an announcements list).  I would then use your organization's data migration toolset - SSIS, SQL jobs, etc. to manage the announcement in one place and have that same record/data distributed to the respective databases for each of your 150 instances.

Something to keep in mind if your instances are housed on different SQL servers - you'll need the proper ports and permissions set up to allow your central DB to reach the target instance DBs.

    Hey Mike,

As a slight tweak on Kyle's idea, if all of your users land on a system dashboard when they log in, you could have a tile on the dashboard display an HTML web resource.  This is basically a web page, and the web page could read from a central RSS feed you set up which contains the notifications you want to show.  This would be a way to show the same message across all of your instances.

In terms of third-party solutions, I have come across this one http://crmalerts.com/ which could be useful, but I've not used it.  You may be able to achieve something similar with push notifications and Microsoft Flow.

To take a step back, how would you communicate notifications for your other systems (if you do?)  Is that channel also an option for getting your notifications out?  Are there other ways such an intranet that your users regularly visit, email distribution lists, Microsoft Teams, etc?  You will probably need to utilize multiple ways to get your notifications out as users tend to ignore messages that pop up, no matter how important.

    Best regards,
    Andrew.
