    I downloaded the Lead template for phone calls because I have a user who used his excel spreadsheet to update his calls etc and then wanted to import back to CRM.
    I have tried but keep getting random errors when I import and they all fail.
    The are all set to one users as the owner but CRM keeps giving me an error for this column saying duplicate exists...

    any work around? all of the leads were imported but the only fail is on the user name for some reason!

    Rather than specify the owner in the spreadsheet rows, you could try just specifying it in the import wizard. There is a lookup control in the wizard that lets you choose an owner. I guess this wouldn't work if you need different owners for records, in which case owners for each row makes sense. Are you exporting from advanced find and then transferring the data to the import template, or using a different technique?
